“My birthday is coming up and I’ve almost always taken advantage of the free birthday meal offered by Chang’s Mongolian Grill….For several years now I’ve gone to Chang’s on my birthday — sometimes alone, and I still received a free meal.  I just phoned the location I patronize (Milwaukie) to ask if their birthday offer has changed.  The supervisor on duty confirmed that it’s NOT necessary to be accompanied by a paying diner to get a free meal.  Apparently some years ago that was the case, but not currently.  Whether their different locations’ policies differ, though, I don’t know.”

Birthday Bonuses will vary – it is fun to receive a surprise for your special day! Newest update from Stephanie (06/30/2015):  I went to chevy’s last year for my birthday, and they don’t even have a birthday program anymore. They have a program called “real rewards”, and you have to spend money, and eventually they give you $5 off after $55 is spent. They don’t even give a free incentive for birthdays, so if you haven’t spent $55 before your birthday to get $5 off, they won’t give you anything for your birthday. Last year I had a coupon for a free entree, and after two weeks it completely disappeared from my inbox, and I couldn’t find the coupon, so when I went in to ask about it, they said they don’t even accept those coupons anymore, and it’s now a loyalty program. I didn’t get my free entree, and I still don’t know how that coupon disappeared from my inbox.

Another Chevy’s change — they are back to their original program of offering a free birthday meal for the month, but you have to sign up!  Admin verified 01/2018

Sign up for the ‘My Smileage Club‘ program and a coupon worth the equivalent of $5 in Menchie’s Money will be added to your mySmileage account and will be available from two weeks before your birthday until two weeks after. To redeem your coupon you must present the cashier your loyalty card or provide your account number before the transaction is completed. Your coupon can be used towards the purchase of any item sold at Menchie’s. This Item is a special limited time offer and will not appear as a credit when checking your card balance as it is a coupon and not earned Menchie’s Money. You must be a registered member for two weeks prior to your birthday in order to receive a birthday reward.

Update from Adam 12/16:  “Update: Old Chicago does still have a birthday deal, and here are the particulars: If you join Old Chicago’s rewards program — which is related to but not exactly the same as the “World Beer Tour” — you get a free appetizer (up to $10 value) upon signing up, and a free pizza (up to $17) on your birthday.  The reward is valid for about a week on either side of your birthday.  (As already noted, you must have visited an Old Chicago location at least once in the previous 12 months to get the perks.)”

Chang’s in Bridgeport village mall and I just wanted to pass along that I was not offered a piece of cake, but rather banana wontons. I was not given an option of any other dessert. The banana wontons were good but they would not have been my first choice.”

Free meal certificate for your next visit.  The catch is that you must visit on your birthday, pay full price, then they’ll give you a voucher for a free meal on your next visit.  Todai’s website also has an eClub, but we are not certain as to the perks or benefits you’ll receive.

UPDATE 08/17/09 from a Todai customer:
“Just thought you should know that Todai has reverted their birthday special to what it used to be, so you are getting it ON your birthday with at least one paid other person. Just show your ID  I just left there and am stuffed to my eyeballs with sushi!   It’s one of the best free birthday deals around!”

Tropical Smoothie offers a free birthday smoothie when you sign-up to receive their e-mails.  Sign up for their Club Tropical program online.  Downtown Portland location is now closed; only one left is in far east Vancouver, WA.

Update from reader Acenight 06/2014:  “Ulta does still offer a free birthday gift they just change the gift every year.  I received an email January 1st that  for the year 2014 it was a full size CK one mascara.  The freebie is always valid for the whole month of your birthday and they also give you double rewards points in your birthday month.
